A while ago I might have installed a key logger accidentally to completely unintentionally grab a certain user of this computer's password so that I could check if he might have accidentally downloaded similar programs to completely unintentionally check on me.

Since then I realised that OPH Crack can accidentally crack passwords much more efficiently and leaves no traces, so I uninstalled the former program.
Unfortunately the icon and name of this program is still in my system tray properties, and I would rather like it to cease to exist. How does one go about removing it? Accidentally.

rightclick toolbar -> properties -> "notification area" tab -> "icons" customize -> change "hide when inactive" to "hide" ...

Thank you, but I mean that I'd like to remove the icon from the actual list. I know how to hide it from the system tray, but if anyone goes into the task bar properties they'll see the name of said spy program.

figured that was too easy >_>;;

ummmmm

hypothetically speaking, it'd probably have to be in program options. otherwise i think you're accidently SOL.

of course, if you erroniously asked google about a program to block programs from programming themselves into the program list...

theorhetically.

If it's properly removed, it won't be in your system tray.

I installed it in my docs and removed the start menu entry, but I don't see why the uninstaller wouldn't work. :ugh: Does anybody know where these icons are stored? Presumably if it can be done automatically it can be done manually.

I've uninstalled the program, but the icon is still in the list. It's not on the actual system tray itself, but you can still see that I've had it installed.

I've got administrator powers.

Yes, but it's way past now. Must have been three of four months ago.

I just need the location of the directory where all of this info is stored.

Quick Google search came up with this.

Actually, the above method only allows you to HIDE the icons. They are still there though, and still make booting up slower. To actually REMOVE them from the tray, you have to go to the Start Menu/Run... then type "msconfig" Then just uncheck the items you want to remove from the Taskbar.If you want to remove a single program from the taskbar you simply right click on the unwanted program and click on delete Note this will not remove the program from the computer just the taskbar shortcut
