bit gay... but lie on your back, and lift your legs up to 90 degrees, keep them straight while you do it. touch your fingers to your toes at the top. keep your back on the ground. do 15 or so of those, then do ten crunches. repeat 3 times? do squats. don't need weights, just squat down, get back up again. do 30 or so? idk whats good for a beginner, then repeat... push ups... keep your back straight, it's just a mental thing. do them till you hurt, wait a bit, do more. stop, recover, do more again..

the thing with losing weight and muscle gain, if that's what your after, is that everyone's different. do what makes your body sore/tired. your muscles use energy so have to burn the fat, and your muscles hurt from the workout, so tell your body to regenerate stronger for next times work out. if you stop, your body stops regenrating that new muscle mass and stops processing the energy you're putting in so stores it as fat. so it's pretty much a constant thing.. you stop for a couple weeks, you lose all progress. you have to commit to get results man..

oh and to the OP

push ups, sit ups, real pull ups, jump rope, and jack knifes will turn you into a lean mean machine.

also it sounds to me like your core is your main concern.

i'd round up 5-6 core exercises every day and do a full circuit (3 - 4 complete sets) and constantly change it up. you will be like WTF in the mirror in like 2 weeks its crazy fast results.

Just keep your posture up, or you'll end up out of the game like me, and get fat in 2 weeks and then have no motivation to get back into the shit.

no, fuck that. everyone's different. by the sounds of it you've already made up your mind that it's a formula.. "if i do 10 situps then 5starjumps i'll be skinny in no time" doesn't quite work like that...

do exercises that make your muscles ache. you work them. they regenerate stronger so they can handle the stress you are putting on them better. so do whatever makes them hurt. google exercises, there will be 19billion million people trying to tell you their exercise is best for you. try a few, see what works for you.

your core is the best place to start though. a stable body base makes it easier to focus on other parts of your body...

but hey if you don't like thinking about it, something real basic: do 20push ups, then 20crunches. repeat 3 times. then do a 40second wall sit, then do 10burpees. repeat 3 times. if you're not tired, do more of them. don't bitch out because you're a little sore though. being sore is good. it means you're making progress.

Arrrr listen to JDC. Every time you do something physically stressful it slightly tears the fibres of your muscles, then when your body rebuilds them it also adds a little extra muscle tissue. If you repeat it for a fairly lengthy period of time you'll build up quite a bit.

Back when I could be bothered to do weights and crunches I found the first few weeks fairly uncomfortable, but if you set a target number of repetitions and make sure you do that, you'll find it gets more easy. If it gets really easy you can increase the target.

Just make sure you don't burn yourself out, though. You should probably have a good idea of what your limits are so be careful not to bite off more than you can chew.
I tore a muscle in my chest and that was bloody uncomfortable. :ugh:

shot dark, agree with that. when you get to that point where you're not making progress anymore, plateuing, that's when you vary your exercises..
