i just jewtubed it. i don't get why you like the techno shit? it ruins what could be a beautiful song. back those vocals onto a bluesy soft rock track and you've got a good song. it seems so emotionally detached. the tempo of the song doesn't match up with the subject matter or the vocals at all.

It works for me. :ugh: I guess I've grown up with electronic so I'm wired to like it, but it'd work in acoustic just as well. The beat at the start kills it a bit, but with electro it's got to have a pretty standard minute or so at either end of the song to make tracks easier to mix.
I think her voice sounds quite breathy and melancholic.

Radio edit sounds better than the first one on the list, by the way. It's less fucked about with.

its all about a bit of passion in the voice and performance. listen to black by pearl jam in the mtv unplugged version. is awesome. he completely loses himself in it towards the end.

still wasn't very funny. cept for the fact that motherlovebones singer died from a heroin overdose like 3days before their debut album apple was due to be released and as a result pearl jam ended up forming after the temple of the dog project which happens to be in my top 5 albums of all time. yep.

Kids out driving Saturday afternoon pass me by
I'm just savouring familiar sights
We share some history, this town and I
And I can't stop that long forgotten feeling of her
Try to book a room to stay tonight

Number one is to find some friends to say "You're doing well
After all this time you boys look just the same"
Number two is the happy hour at one of two hotels
Settle in to play "Do you remember so and so?"
Number three is never say her name

Oh the flame trees will blind the weary driver
And there's nothing else could set fire to this town
There's no change, there's no pace
Everything within its place
Just makes it harder to believe that she won't be around

But Ah! Who needs that sentimental bullshit, anyway
Takes more than just a memory to make me cry
I'm happy just to sit here round a table with old friends
And see which one of us can tell the biggest lies

There's a girl falling in love near where the pianola stands
With her young local factory out-of-worker, holding hands
And I'm wondering if he'll go or if he'll stay

Do you remember, nothing stopped us on the field
In our day

Oh the flame trees will blind the weary driver
And there's nothing else could set fire to this town
There's no change, there's no pace
Everything within its place
Just makes it harder to believe that she won't be around
