This tends to happen. :ugh:

I come in when she's on her own cashing up, just in case burglars come in - because charity shops are where the real money is. Pretty much every time I go in I end up bringing home some kind of video. It's gotten to the point where I've got no more space in my wardrobe.

There's some real classics that turn up sometimes, and at 50p each it's hard to say no. I've spent about £50 from my calculations. Considering that at their peak one movie would be £10-£20 each, you can't complain.

TL;DR - Buy media from charity shops. Just not the one I go to. It's mine. All mine.
Grrrrrr.

ok so you gotta splain to me this whole British money thing.

WTF is a quid? how many pence in a pound? What is a sterling? How the hell do you keep track of all that crap? Why can't you use a base 10 monetary system like we do?

a "quid" would be slang for a "pound" (not all that unlike you yanks using the word buck)

100p = £1
Pounds available in denominations of 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p & £1 coins. I do believe they now have a £2 coin also. Notes are then available in higher values. ie 5,10, 20, 50 pound notes.

Sterling is the name given to the currency. It's the pound sterling. (so naturally has been abbreviated to be both pounds and or sterling...naturally.)

Its all gravy...baby!

I forgot that you trait- Irish switched to the Euro.
There's a £5 coin coming out soon. If not now.

Still the strongest currency mother fuckers.

Cool, So you are on a base 10 monetary system. For some reason I thought that a 7 pence=quid, 4 quid=pound, 3 pound=sterling.

Dunno where I got that idea, but I thought it was all mixed up like that.

Most currencies run on that system.
And the £5 coin is just commemorative shit.

 Now that would be interesting.....

Its all derived from the anglo, sterling/pound where you had silver, called sterlings, 250 pieces of which made up a pound (in weight).. That's one story of origin anyways.

Your confusion may be due to pre decimal values of shillings and pence. What with being so old an all  couldn't resist!

If it's called the sterling is that due to it still being backed by silver?
